Nature's Greatest Spectacle

Discover the awe-inspiring annual journey of over two million wildebeest, zebra and gazelles across the Serengeti & Masai Mara, in search of fresh pastures.

January - March

Between January and March, the wildebeest migration sees vast herds congregate on Tanzania's southern plains for calving season. This period offers spectacular wildlife viewing, with newborns attracting predators, ensuring dynamic interactions. Ideal for witnessing nature's cycle and predator-prey dynamics in action, enhancing the safari experience.

April - June

Between April and June, the Wildebeest Migration moves north towards the fresher pastures of the Western Corridor and Grumeti Reserves. This phase is marked by dramatic river crossings of the Grumeti River and the challenge of evading crocodiles that have been waiting for this moment for almost a year

July - September

From July to September, the Wildebeest Migration reaches its zenith as the herds brave perilous river crossings in Kenya's Maasai Mara. This period is renowned for dramatic scenes of survival and is the peak months to view the migration. These high season months in the Masai Mara is where most travelers will focus their attention, so expect busy sightings and availability at lodges hard to come by

October - November

In October and November, the Wildebeest Migration turns southward towards Tanzania's Serengeti, lured by the promise of refreshed grasslands after the short rains.
