DAY 1

LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK

This morning take a flight from Lusaka to Lower Zambezi National Park. The Lower Zambezi's magic lies in the fact that it is relatively undeveloped and offers a slice of Africa that is both pristine and wild. The park's name comes from its most dominant feature - the Zambezi River. The river is the focal point of many activities in the park, and most lodges are built on its banks with rooms overlooking the river and sweeping floodplains.

Enjoy early morning and late afternoon safari activities.

Game drives take place in an open sided vehicle and come specially equipped with hand-held spotlights for night viewing. Night drives can be extremely exciting when the nocturnal creatures such as leopards, civets, porcupines, genets and aardvarks come out to hunt and forage for food. All safaris at Royal Zambezi are conducted with a private guide and vehicle and the experience is one focused around  flexibility and tailored exactly to your interests. Over the four days at Royal Zambezi the guides will work hard to ensure you have seen your favourite species.

DAY 2

DAY 3

LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK

Morning and afternoon game activities.

In between game drives, exploration takes place on the Zambezi River in a powered motor-boat or under your own steam with a canoe. The river offers a rich variety of bird life and you may see the ubiquitous fish eagle or an osprey often taking larger fish from the river. Kingfishers are found in a myriad of shapes, colours and sizes. Crocodiles line the shore, pods of hippos wallow in the shallows and herds of elephants frequent the banks of the rivers in which they quench their thirst. The river is a focal point for the wildlife and much of your exploration of the park will focus on the river.

LOWER ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK

Morning and afternoon game activities, including game drives, boat cruises, canoeing and walking safaris.

With this activity, it is important to remember to make sure you slow it down on occasion and simply sit and relax. The “Do Nothing at All” option, abbreviated to DNA, is a Royal special and is often a total misnomer as the goings-on in a quiet camp often leave you breathless. The concept of DNA is essentially to stay in camp, spend time relaxing by the main pool or bar, chatting to other folk on the deck, browsing through the many reference books in the lounge or staying in your suite simply enjoying the peace and quiet. However, don't feel that you are missing out as the wildlife sightings around camp are often some of the most exciting.
