In the afternoon, venture out again – this time for a boat cruise on the Chobe River, ideal for photographing elephants crossing the water and hippos bobbing in the shallows. Known for its birdlife, the park, with the right climatic conditions, offers the possibility to view thousands of flamingoes feeding in the shallow alkaline lake.

Tarangire is most famous for its giant baobabs, a network of swamps, and large herds of elephants rumoured to be the largest population in Tanzania.
